first_imgAffiliates from across New South Wales will take part in the 2014 New South Wales Touch Association’s (NSWTA) State Conference on Saturday, 18 October and Sunday, 19 October at Bankstown Sports Club. In a busy weekend for NSWTA, the finals series of the 2014 Vawdon Cup will commence on Friday night, with the grand finals to be played on Saturday, 2 November with the Grand Finals.The conference will see administrators learn across many areas over the weekend, from the Touch Football Australia and National Rugby League Strategic Alliance update, to Fox Sports Pulse workshops as well as volunteer topics and interactive sessions for affiliates. The 2014 NSWTA Blues Awards Dinner will be held in conjunction with the event, recognising athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers for their contribution to the sport. NRL superstar Benji Marshall will be in attendance as a guest of the NSWTA and will take part in the presentations with MC Joel Caine. For the first time, the prestigious Boland and Smith medals will also be presented at the Dinner, recognising the best players from the 2014 Vawdon Cup season.43 people will be awarded Blues Awards at the event, while the Rod Wise Medal for Volunteer of the Year sees Gunnedah’s Peta Devine, Sydney Scorpions’ Tim Kitchingham, Hunter Western Hornets’ Don Green, Mudgee’s Kathy Lang, Hills Hornets’ Brad Mitchell and Leeton’s Bruce Washington in contention for the award. The dinner will also see one of Australia’s best-known and leading comic entertainers, Vince Sorrenti, take to the stage.
