first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest  Western ARS Agronomy Field Day — July 20Western Ag Research Station Nutrient Management Field Day — July 21Northwest Ag Research Station Nutrient Management Field Day — July 28August 3 and 4 is the North American Manure Expo on the Farm Science Review grounds near London. FirstProducers and industry agronomists are invited to attend the Western ARS Agronomy Field Day, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.We plan to start registration at 8:30, with the program starting at 9 a.m. Speakers planned for the day may include:Peter Thomison — Season outcomes for corn, the good the bad and the ugly.Pierce Paul and Anne Dorrance — Too dry for diseases? Try again.Mark Loux — A lively discussion of herbicide tolerant crops will ensue.Kelley Tillmon — Insects keep creeping up on our crops. What’s here for 2016?Precision Ag questions? — We expect John Fulton and his high-speed planter and Alex Lindsey to talk about crop sensors as well.We’ll have a BBQ box lunch after the morning activities then continue into the afternoon. Just south of I-70 on State Route 41 between Springfield and South Charleston in Clark County. SecondThe Western Nutrient Management Field Day will be held July 21 from 9 a.m. to 2:30. The event will cover the material needed to become an Ohio certified fertilizer applicator. We will cover topics on nitrogen, phosphorus, water quality, application equipment and Manure handling. There will be a $15 fee for the meal and snacks.The field day will include field demonstrations and research updates to better understand nutrient management concerns. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 at the station near Custar. The location is 4240 Range Line Road, Custar, 43511. This is just west of I-75 between Bowling Green and Findlay. The program meets the requirements to receive Agricultural Fertilizer Applicator Certification in the state of Ohio.
