Allegri thinks Barcelona are the Champions League favs

first_imgJuventus manager Max Allegri, explained why he believes that FC Barcelona is the biggest favorite to win the Champions League.Despite having a player such as Cristiano Ronaldo on his side, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri still puts Barcelona as the Champions League favorites this season.Having a fantastic start of the season in all competitions with Ronaldo in top form, doesn’t seem to be enough for Max to actually consider his own squad as the top favorite to win the competition.Cristiano has been proving repeatedly during the past three seasons, that he is in much better shape than Lionel Messi on this competition and that should be more than enough for his own manager to have the confidence of considering themselves the rival to beat in the competition.FC Barcelona has been playing top football this season as well, they are currently leading the Group of Death in the competition and have already secured a ticket to the next round. This high level of performance must be what has Allegri so certain of Barcelona’s claim for the title this season, but he is underestimating what his own players are capable of, as well as other clubs that are going to compete at the very top.🗣 @OfficialAllegri & Cancelo: “We want to qualify”The coach and the Portuguese defender talk #JuveVCF ahead of tomorrow night’s #UCL match ➡️ https://t.co/4jCj8K5CRv#ForzaJuve pic.twitter.com/L1Qta5XKin— JuventusFC (@juventusfcen) November 26, 2018Allegri spoke to the press this Monday ahead of Juventus’ match against Valencia in the penultimate Champions League group stage match. The manager was questioned about the squads that he thinks have the biggest chances of winning the tournament this season, a list of clubs where he did include his squad but named Barça as the top favorites.“There are still many games to go in Serie A and we have a lot of difficult games to play until the end of the year, against Roma, Inter, Atalanta, Fiorentina and Sampdoria,” said Allegri to the press via Four Four Two.“But in the Champions League, we have to take it one step at a time. We want to qualify for the last 16 and in first place.”“Barcelona are the favorites to win the competition, in my opinion. Then there are teams, including us, with the ambition to win it. We have that same desire every year.”“Last year, I said that the favorites were Real Madrid. This year, I think it’s Barcelona. I hope to be wrong this year.”David Villa, FC BarcelonaTop 10 players who played for both Barcelona and Valencia Boro Tanchev – September 14, 2019 Time to talk about the best players who represented both Barcelona and Valencia, prior to their La Liga encounter at Camp Nou this evening.“The Champions League is different,” he added.“In a period when Real Madrid were much worse – they were 15 points behind Barcelona – they still have the opportunity to go through to the next round. [Their form] counts for nothing,” he concluded.🎙 Off. That’s it from @OfficialAllegri, a full recap will be available soon on https://t.co/eYBMM1s4Iz #JuveVCF #UCL #ForzaJuve— JuventusFC (@juventusfcen) November 26, 2018As far as the other clubs that he didn’t mention, Allegri failed to name drop clubs like Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and even Manchester City. Those three specific clubs look like they are going to get far in the competition due to the impressive level of performance they are gifting us all with this season. The Colchoneros just came from a draw against FC Barcelona, Dortmund keeps dominating the Bundesliga well above Bayern München, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City is still flying in the Premier League with very little opposition having any claim for the title this season. But Juventus is without question one of the top favorites, because Cristiano Ronaldo seems like he is on a mission to prove that he is still relevant despite his “veteran” status. The Portuguese forward is actually doing great so far, as he is at the top of the Serie A goal-scoring table with 9 goals and has been completely unplayable this season with his new club.Juventus knows they have their secret weapon, not bragging too much about it might be a good strategy from Allegri but they shouldn’t be underestimated by anyone this season.🎙 @OfficialAllegri: “Barcelona are the favourites to win the competition in my opinion.
