Ubisoft has released the first details about the upcoming Far Cry 5. Previous entries have taken players to remote and exotic places, but this time, the game is set in the United States. Along with the first gameplay details, Ubisoft has also delivered a pair of trailers. To say that this will be a divisive and controversial game is an understatement.Far Cry 5 will be set in the fictional town of Hope County, Montana. Players will get to take on the role of a junior deputy in the police force who gets stranded in the remote town — which is currently being ruled by a man named Joseph Seed and his Eden’s Gate cult/militia. The majority of the game will have players building a resistance force against Seed in order to free Hope County. As you would expect from a Far Cry game, you’ll run into many… interesting characters (both good and bad) along the journey. This will be the first Far Cry game where you’ll be able to be a male or female with your choice of skin color. You can play through the entire campaign alone or in two-player co-op and can recruit NPC characters. You can even recruit animals like cougars and bears. Vehicles include American muscle cars, boats, big rigs, ATVs, and even planes. In case you’re wondering, yes, there will be aerial dogfights in this game. Overall, Far Cry 5 won’t differ greatly from past entries in the gameplay department, but it has all the ingredients that have made the series such a success.Far Cry 5 will be released next year on February 27 (wisely avoiding the 2017 holiday season). It will be coming out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PS4 owners will get a free Far Cry 5 skin at launch. The game will see enhancements on both the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio.
