Exclusive – Liverpool boss Rodgers backs Redknapp, branding QPR sack talk ‘incredible’

first_imgBrendan Rodgers has launched a passionate defence of QPR counterpart Harry Redknapp – describing speculation he could be on his way out of Loftus Road as ‘incredible’.Sunday’s dramatic defeat at home to Liverpool has left the Rs rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and Redknapp, who led the Hoops to promotion last season, is odds-on to be the next top-flight next manager to lose his job.But Rodgers admits his team were lucky to leave west London with three points, and insists Redknapp’s position should be safe given the job he has done.“I cannot believe the things that are coming out in terms of Harry Redknapp being under pressure. I find it unbelievable,” he said, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“He went into a club and turned it around. When a team gets relegated, everyone knows how difficult it can be and sometimes teams don’t come back for a number of years. But he got them promoted.“It is obviously difficult when you come up [to the Premier League]. I know that from coming up with Swansea. But this is a top, top manager who gets the maximum out of players.“They should have got something [against Liverpool]. They were playing for Harry. I find it incredible his job is being questioned and linked with other people because he is clearly a top, top class manager and has been for many years.”last_img
